Decision support for NBS on private land

Nature-based Solutions (NBS) are inspired by and supported by natural processes, serving as effective tools to mitigate the impacts of climate hazards such as floods, heavy rainfall, heatwaves, and droughts—events that are expected to increase in frequency due to climate change. However, with a wide range of NBS types and examples available, how can suitable options be selected for implementation on private land?

Within the framework of our project and the first work package, we conducted literature research to compile a selection of diverse NBS that can be applied on private land. These solutions aim to mitigate the effects of climate change across various sectors, including agriculture, urban environments, coastal areas, river basins, and forests. As part of our deliverable, we compiled an overview of the potential local benefits these NBS measures could provide once implemented. Additionally, we developed brief fact sheets for example NBS, that can be used for public dissemination and communication purposes, for example in workshops.

This deliverable and accompanying fact sheets can not only aid in selecting appropriate NBS measures within the LAND4CLIMATE project but also serve as valuable resources beyond the project’s scope. They can help others to implement NBS on private land. Find the right NBS measure for implementation on private land.
