Ongoing negotiations with land owners
In Czech Republic farmers harvesting and grazing on LAND4CLIMATE revitalization sites worry about further land use for economic purposes. We therefore have to find a compromise between natural water regime and farm management.
Nature based solutions include drainage removal, groundwater surfacing, river bed restoration, and the creation of water pools. The local landowners are worried, these measures complicate or preclude the land use for farming purposes.
The LAND4CLIMATE team in Czech Republic focus on construction measures for farm equipment and farm animals. At the same time they suggest procedures ensuring state subsidy support for the farmers. However, it is essential that we prioritise nature-based solutions to ensure the long-term sustainability of the revitalization efforts. Ongoing discussions will be key to finding a solution that benefits both the environment and the agricultural community.
