SGEM 2026

LAND4CLIMATE expands its international network through the participation of UPT at SGEM 2026

Between 4 and 13 July 2026, a delegation from Politehnica University Timișoara (UPT) participated in the 26th International Multidisciplinary Scientific GeoConference SGEM, held in Albena, Bulgaria. The event brought together researchers, university representatives and professional organisations from numerous countries, providing an important framework for knowledge exchange and the development of new international collaborations. The participation of the UPT delegation aimed to promote the objectives and activities of LAND4CLIMATE, with a focus on climate change adaptation, sustainable land use, water resource management, territorial resilience and the implementation of Nature-based Solutions. The discussions highlighted the essential role of land and green-blue infrastructure in reducing climate risks and developing more resilient communities.
A central component of the participation in SGEM 2026 was networking. Meetings with researchers and representatives of universities and international organisations contributed to increasing the visibility of LAND4CLIMATE and expanding its network of contacts beyond the current European consortium. The dialogue initiated in Albena opened new opportunities for joint scientific publications, the development of project proposals, the organisation of workshops and exchanges of expertise. Opportunities for interdisciplinary cooperation were also identified among specialists in engineering, environmental sciences, spatial planning, digital technologies and social sciences. Through the participation of the UPT delegation at SGEM 2026, LAND4CLIMATE strengthened its visibility within the international scientific community and expanded its collaboration network. The contacts established in Albena will be followed up through activities aimed at scientific cooperation, joint publications, project proposals and academic exchanges.
