LAND4CLIMATE at ECCA 2025: Advancing Nature Based Adaptation in Rimini
Between 16 and 18 June 2025, the city of Rimini, Italy, hosted the 7th edition of the European Climate Change Adaptation Conference (ECCA 2025), bringing together approximately 400 key stakeholders in the field of climate adaptation. Researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and project representatives gathered under the shared goal of accelerating adaptation efforts through actionable knowledge. The event placed a strong emphasis on nature-based solutions (NbS), innovative financing, and integrated tools for resilience, while also highlighting critical funding pathways through Horizon Europe, LIFE, and the EU Mission on Adaptation.
The LAND4CLIMATE consortium was actively represented throughout the conference, contributing valuable insights and expertise to several sessions. Project partners presented case studies from pilot regions, showcasing the transformative role of NbS in areas affected by climate changes. Examples of co-creating, designing and selecting non-regret NBS were used to demonstrate tangible improvements in regional climate resilience. LAND4CLIMATE also engaged in knowledge-sharing sessions with other EU-funded initiatives, exploring best practices for scaling NbS across diverse European contexts. These contributions helped reinforce the importance of bridging science, policy, and practice, while also laying the groundwork for new collaborations and upcoming project proposals.
