LAND4CLIMATE at the 15th Water Research Horizon Conference 2025

LAND4CLIMATE was introduced at the 15th Water Research Horizon Conference 2025 on 30 September in Bochum, within the special session on Climate-Resilient, Sustainable, and Health-Promoting Urban Transformation - Sponge City Aspects. The conference was hosted in collaboration with the Water Science Alliance and Ruhr University Bochum. The project was presented through a keynote titled “LAND4CLIMATE - Experiences from Implementing Nature-Based Solutions on Private Land” by B. Ayça Ataç-Studt from TU Dortmund University. The keynote highlighted practical experiences from implementing NBS on private land, with a focus on institutional barriers, land policy challenges, and the important role of landowners in climate adaptation. The session provided a valuable platform to discuss how sponge city principles and nature-based solutions can be translated into practice, particularly in complex governance settings where private land plays a decisive role.
