Holistic Plan for Climate Recovery in the Roňava River Basin

This analysis presents a holistic plan for climate recovery in the Roňava River Basin, located in the southeastern part of Slovakia. The basin is particularly vulnerable to extreme weather events, especially flash floods, which pose significant risks to local communities. Due to its compact size and the current use of its forest-agricultural landscape, the basin shows limited resilience to climate change. In addition, increasing heat waves further highlight the need for systemic changes in land management to prevent environmental degradation and long-term socio-economic challenges. In this context, the proposed plan contributes to the objectives of the LAND4CLIMATE project, which promotes the implementation of nature-based solutions and innovative land management approaches to strengthen climate resilience and support sustainable land use across European regions.
