Deliverable 5.1 Policy briefs on Nature-based Solutions
Deliverable 5.1 presents two policy briefs developed within the LAND4CLIMATE project, focusing on how Nature-based Solutions (NbS) can be enabled, designed and implemented on privately owned land to support climate resilience and sustainability. As most European land is privately owned, the deliverable addresses a key challenge for scaling NbS beyond pilot projects and protected areas. Drawing on evidence and practical experience from six LAND4CLIMATE Front Runner Regions across Europe, the two policy briefs analyse economic, legal and governance barriers to NbS implementation on private land. They provide targeted policy recommendations for EU-level decision-makers and local authorities, highlighting the conditions needed to foster cooperation with landowners and to embed NbS into long-term climate adaptation and ecosystem restoration strategies.
